Minister of Music & Worship - Tommy Quinn
Tommy Quinn was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He accepted Christ as a young boy back in 1983. Always a gifted singer, Tommy attended William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Mississippi as a vocal major, and graduated with a degree in Music Education. Licensed to the ministry in 1991, and ordained in 1998, Tommy has been active in the Baptist church music ministry since he became the music intern at First Baptist Church of Hattiesburg in 1990. Serving as part-time minister of music and youth at Perkinston Baptist Church, Perkinston, MS, while he attended college prepared Tommy for his first full-time Minister of Music and Youth position at Shiloh Baptist Church in Columbia, MS. Tommy also served at South McComb Baptist Church and Parkway Baptist Church in Natchez, MS prior to coming to FBCPTC in March of 2004. His versatility of musical style allows FBCPTC to have not only a first rate traditional choir-based service, but an exciting praise-band based blended service as well. Tommy and his wife Caren have two sons, Parker and Ryan.
Music & Worship Ministry Assistant - John Shaw
John is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He has been performing professionally as a trumpeter since the age of 12. After receiving his B.S. in Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, John took a job as a middle school / high school band director in Paden City, West Virginia. A few years later he joined the United States Army band and spent the next twenty one years touring the world as a member of several different Army Bands. While stationed in San Francisco and Atlanta, (his only two duty stations within the U.S.), John toured through all but two states while serving as solo trumpeter in both classical and jazz oriented ensembles. He lead the S.H.A.P.E. (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe) big band, stationed in Brussels, Belgium, for nine years and took them through seventeen countries touring and performing at Europe’s’ biggest jazz festivals including The North Sea Jazz Festival and The Montreux Jazz Festival. John has recorded extensively, playing on more than 20 CD’s, and maintains an active career as a professional trumpeter throughout the southeastern U.S. He still teaches private lessons with close to twenty students per week. He has three children, Johnny, Katie and Allison.
Keyboardist - Debbie Roof
Debbie Roof was born in Celina, Ohio. She was predestined for church work as her father was a preacher for 57 years. She started studying piano at age 3 with her mother and continued with lessons throughout school in not only piano, but also organ, french horn, trumpet and vocalizing. At the age of 18, Debbie recorded her first album. Together with her best friend from high school, she toured as a singer for two years. When her friend married, her husband joined the group and the three of them toured and recorded for the next four years as “Take III”. Debbie branched out into a solo career in 1998. Debbie’s piano and vocal talents have taken her across the United States and she has performed extensively in the sacred music field. Ladies retreats, church conventions, banquets, church services, and concert settings are all familiar performance venues for Debbie. Debbie served as the organist at FBCPTC from 1988 to 1991. She and Steve have two children, Ben and Heidi. Debbie has maintained a full time job as a medical transcriptionist for the past twenty years, as well as a career with Mary Kay Cosmetics. In her spare time she enjoys interior decorating, shopping, water sports, and the beach.
