Health & Wellness:

First Baptist Church employs three registered nurses to care for our community and our church body. We offer many health services such as blood pressure screenings, diabetes testing, and cholesterol tests. Also, if you are in need of printed material regarding spiritual or physical crises in your life, we have resources available to you.

To request assistance or find out more information regarding this vital ministry, please contact our Congregational Nurses: Mrs. Ruth McCommon, RN Minister of Health and Wellness, Mrs. Ruth Marie Brooks, RN, or Mrs. Brenda Miller, RN at ext. 1233. Our nurses are in the office Monday - Thursday 9 AM - 1 PM.

You can make an appointment for the following: - B/P screening, health interpretations, health consultation, home/hospital/nursing home visits by calling the Health and Wellness office. Blood Pressure clinics are conducted monthly during our monthly Wednesday night mission dinners.

We are always looking for volunteers to help in our many ministries. If you would like to help with the Health and Wellness ministry click here.

Blood Pressure Screenings

Many adults in the US have high blood pressure but don't know it.  High blood pressure has no symptoms; so many people can have it for years without knowing it.  During this time it can cause damage to your heart, kidneys and blood vessels.  Each Wednesday in conjunction to our Mission dinners the Health & Wellness ministry holds a blood pressure screening in the Gathering room from 5:30 to 6:30 PM.  If you are aware of your high blood pressure you can take to necessary step to control it and reduce the risks of related health problems.

Burden Bearers

Have you ever thought "How long will this go on with my adult child?" or "How come nothing I do ever works?" If so, this group can give you much needed advice and support. We meet the second Thursday of each month, 7 - 8:30 PM in room 113.

Blood Drives
Every March, June, and December our Health and Wellness ministry hosts a blood drive with LifeSouth Blood Mobile. This is an excellent way to give to those in our community. Call the Health and Wellness office for the next blood drive date.
